Note on the heartbeat option: it pings an external monitoring service you set up and own separately — CronVitals doesn't monitor your site's uptime on its own. It's there for teams who already use one of those tools and want their cron alerts routed the same way.

Good to know before you install it.

Do I need to create an account to use the free version?

No. Install the plugin, and it starts tracking your cron jobs immediately. Everything free-tier lives inside Tools → CronVitals in your WordPress admin.

How is this different from a generic cron monitoring service?

Most cron monitors are built for developers pinging an external URL from custom code, with a separate dashboard to log into. CronVitals reads your site's actual WP-Cron and Action Scheduler events automatically — nothing to wire up, and the job list and history live where you already work.

Does it work if I've disabled WP-Cron and use a real system cron instead?

Yes. Detection runs whenever wp-cron.php is invoked, whether that's triggered by site traffic or a server-level cron job.

I manage sites for clients. Is there a multi-site dashboard?

Not yet — each install currently has its own Jobs and Logs view. If you manage many sites and want a single view across all of them, get in touch — it's on the roadmap and client interest will shape it.
